The Government Drags LONERS Out of Their Shell in Limited Release May 31st
Loners Productions and Indie Rights are excited to announce the theatrical debut and Digital HD rollout of Eryc Trammon’s satirical comedy Loners. Following its beginnings as a stage production by Neil McGowan, Loners was developed into a feature film by producer/star Tyson Turrou as a comedic take on our current political climate and the government’s inability to actually address the violence in our news. The film asks for answers to two of life’s greatest questions: How to avoid the government, and how to make friends.
Loners will premiere in Los Angeles at the Ahrya Fine Arts by Laemmle on May 30, followed by a weeklong run at the Laemmle Music Hall beginning May 31. The film will premiere on Cable and Digital VOD in the coming weeks.
Starring: Khary Payton (“The Walking Dead”), Stephen Tobolowsky (Spaceballs, “Silicon Valley”), Brian Letscher, Melissa Paladino, Tyson Turrou, David Christian Welborn, Brenda Davidson, Michael Monks, Madeleine Woolner, Neil McGowan, Keith Stevenson, Will Greenberg (TBS’ “Wrecked”), Rob Kerkovich (“NCIS: New Orleans”)
On stepping into the director’s chair, Trammon said, “Loners presented a unique opportunity to engage an audience with humor while exploring a topical conundrum: In a world so socially connected, is there a connection between those who choose not to connect and those disconnected from reality? And of those disconnected, are they really connected to potential violence? Loners makes that connection in a world where President Camacho would be proud.”

Cambodia, April 1975. Chou is a young woman whose everyday world is suddenly upended by the arrival of the Khmer Rouge regime. THE OUTSIDER in Theaters and on VOD June 14
Outlaws beware. Through hard work and sacrifice, the pieces of Jing’s life begin falling into place, but in one moment all of that is ripped away. Enraged with grief, he sets out on a path of revenge that will tear apart the corrupt town he calls home in THE OUTSIDER. This double barrel thrill-ride stars country music legend Trace Adkins (I Can Only Imagine, Hickok), Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints, Powder), Jon Foo (“Rush Hour”) and Danny Trejo (Machete, Predators). On June 14, THE OUTSIDER opens theatrically in 11 markets including Los Angeles, Kansas City, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, Houston, Tampa, Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago and Toronto; and, day-and-date, it will also be available On Demand and Digital. The far east and the old west collide in, THE OUTSIDER, a tale of bullets, bare knuckles and bloodshed. In search of a better life, a railroad worker (Foo) unwittingly finds himself on the wrong side of a group of corrupt lawmen. As the Marshal (Adkins) attempts to control his increasingly unethical town, tragedy strikes forcing him to decide between justice and family. But through their inaction they awakened a sleeping giant; and after teaming up with a disgraced former officer (Flanery), the railroad worker sets out to wipeout the immoral group by any means necessary.
THE OUTSIDER, directed by Timothy Woodward Jr. (Hickok, Traded) and written by Sean Ryan, is an unfiltered look at the trials and tragedies that shaped the American frontier. Co-stars include Kaiwi Lyman (“American Horror Story”, Hickok) as the Marshal’s son and Mitchell L. Johnson (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as a corrupt lawman. Nelli Tsay (Jaded) rounds out the performances with the complex, gritty portrayal of Jing’s wife.
Filmed at the iconic Paramount Ranch, where movies & shows such as Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and “Gunsmoke” were made, production was halted half-way through when the Malibu Woolsey Fires destroyed the historic movie set. “The western genre holds a special place in my heart,” says Woodward, Jr. “Having another opportunity to work at an iconic location like Paramount Ranch was a dream come true. It was a sad day for western fans, and a blow to the film community, when the ranch succumbed to the fires that devastated a big portion of the state last fall. Despite it being one of our key locations for this project, the crew, cast and team really buckled down, got creative and worked through heat, wind and fire to bring this western to life.”
THE OUTSIDER is produced by Woodward, Lauren de Normandie and Johnny Cleveland. Executive Producers include Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Joe Listhaus and Patrick DePeters.
GKIDS Acquires North American Rights for ANOTHER DAY OF LIFE | To Hit U.S. Theaters 2019!
GKIDS, the acclaimed producer and distributor of animation for adult and family audiences, announced it has acquired North American distribution rights for the adult-targeted animated feature ANOTHER DAY OF LIFE. GKIDS will release the film theatrically in 2019. Based on famed author and journalist Ryszard Kapuściński’s book of the same name, and directed by Raúl De La Fuente and Damian Nenow, ANOTHER DAY OF LIFE was an official selection of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and has received numerous accolades, including the San Sebastien IFF Audience Award, the Goya Award for Best Animated Film and the European Film Award for Best Animated Film. The film’s rights are being sold worldwide by Indie Sales, and the all-rights deal for North America was negotiated by GKIDS’ CEO and Founder Eric Beckman and Nicolas Eschbach for Indie Sales.
“We are incredibly proud to release ANOTHER DAY OF LIFE,” said GKIDS’ President David Jesteadt. “The film brings Kapuściński’s writing to visceral life, in a thrilling story of a journalist’s obligations during war that will stay with audiences long after they leave the theater.”
An official Cannes selection and winner of festival prizes and awards worldwide, ANOTHER DAY OF LIFE is a daringly ambitious dive into the chaos of war, based on the book by the journalist Ryszard “Ricardo” Kapuściński, one of the world’s most compelling chroniclers of conflict. Intercutting a graphically bold animation style with interviews and archival footage, the visually striking film conveys a rare immediacy as it tells of the outbreak of civil war following Angola’s independence from Portugal in 1975. Against all advice, Kapuściński is intent on driving south into the heart of the bloody conflict to find the isolated rebel leader Farrusco (a legendary figure like Kurtz in Heart of Darkness). His animated trip through corpse-strewn roads conveys an undeniable urgency, while the documentary testimony reminds us that we are watching actual history.
GKIDS is a producer and distributor of award-winning feature animation for both adult and family audiences. Since 2010, the company has scored an astounding 11 Best Animated Feature Oscar nominations with The Secret of Kells in 2010, A Cat in Paris and Chico & Rita in 2012, Ernest & Celestine in 2014, The Tale of The Princess Kaguya and Song of the Sea in 2015, Boy and the World and When Marnie Was There in 2016, My Life as a Zucchini in 2017, The Breadwinner in 2018, and Mirai in 2019. GKIDS also handles North American distribution for the famed Studio Ghibli library of films, one of the world’s most coveted animation collections with titles Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and others. GKIDS also produces the annual LA-based film festival, ANIMATION IS FILM, which embraces the highest aspirations of animation as a cinematic art form and is a vocal advocate for filmmakers who push the boundaries of their work to the fullest range of expression of which medium is capable. www.gkids.com
