“Welcome to Sweden” debuted last July on NBC and I didn’t expect much. Sure, I dug the talent involved, but it was a summer series. Summer shows aren’t mean to be good. Color me shocked, as I grew to enjoy the eclectic cast and a fresh take on international romance. After all, what would you do if called upon to move overseas to be with your loved one?
Greg Poehler does an amazing job as Bruce, an American trying to make a go of things with his beloved Emma. It’s fun to start a new life, but sometimes culture clash goes beyond basic sitcom staples. We get a degree of that, but not enough for me to call it revolutionary. The only label I have to offer is charming. This is a perfectly charming show. The DVD comes with no special features.
