DARK SKY FILMS and SNOWFORT PICTURES RETEAM FOR TED GEOGHEGAN’S  ‘MOHAWK’

Dark Sky Films and Snowfort Pictures have announced they will reteam and continue their multi-picture deal with writer-director Ted Geoghegan on MOHAWK, the follow-up to his critical and commercial horror hit We Are Still Here. The film is set to star Tiio Horn (Hemlock Grove, Blank Paige), a Mohawk native herself. Principle photography begins today in upstate New York.
The new project reteams Geoghegan with WE ARE STILL HERE producer Travis Stevens, producer Greg Newman and co-screenwriter Grady Hendrix, best-selling author of Horrorstör.
Kaniehtiio Horn (Hemlock Grove, Blank Paige) stars in MOHAWK, an intense horror and action tale.  After one of her tribe sets an American soldiers’ camp ablaze, a young female Mohawk finds herself pursued by a ruthless band of renegades bent on revenge. Fleeing deep into the woods, Mohawk youths Oak and Calvin confront the bloodthirsty Colonel Holt and his soldiers. As the Americans seem to close in from all sides, the trio must summon every resource both real and supernatural as the brutal attack escalates.
Other cast in the film will include WWE Superstar Jon Huber (aka Luke Harper) and an elite line up of genre names including: Justin Rain (SyFy’s DEFIANCE / TWILIGHT: Eclipse), Noah Segan (LOOPER / STARRY EYES), Ian Colleti (AMC’s PREACHER),  Robert Longstreet (TAKE SHELTER / AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS), Sheri Foster (Netflix’s UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT), Ezra Buzzington (The Hills Have Eyes, Crossbones) and many others.
Greg Newman (Producer), said: “We are thrilled to be working with both Ted and Travis again. We Are Still Here proved them to be a winning production team.  We’re excited for Ted to take on a real-life horror story that promises to deliver action and suspense to spare.”

Travis Stevens (Producer) adds “From Rey in THE FORCE AWAKENS, to FURY ROAD’s Furiosa, to Wonder Woman to Jessica Jones, action audiences have shown a voracious appetite for strong, well-written female characters. We’re excited to work with Dark Sky Films and Tiio Horn and introduce the character of ‘Okwaho’ to the diverse pantheon of action heroines who have come before her.”
Director Ted Geoghegan said, “Mohawk is hard-hitting action-horror that subverts traditional genre tropes while delivering a timeless tale of good versus evil. We look to deliver a horrifying home invasion film where the home is North America itself.”

WE ARE STILL HERE, Geoghegan’s directing debut, was a wintry haunted house tale that premiered to rave reviews at SXSW 2015 and was released by MPI domestically through its genre division, Dark Sky Films. It quickly hit No. 1 on iTunes Horror.

Dark Sky Films has seen success over the past year with such acclaimed productions as We Are Still Here, Deathgasm and Southbound.
Snowfort Pictures is currently in post-production on Karyn Kusama’s segment for the horror anthology film XX. Other films from the company include Jade Porter’s Mexican skateboard documentary Concrete Futuro, John Carchietta’s high school romance Teenage Cocktail, Ricky Bates Jr.’s Trash Fire and Sarah Adina Smith’s Buster’s Mal Heart.

New Trailer and Poster for Cinelicious’ 4K Restoration of PRIVATE PROPERTY starring Warren Oates

https://youtu.be/QAvlN_6GjyA

PRIVATE PROPERTY begins as two homicidal Southern California drifters (played to creepy, Peeping Tom perfection by Warren Oates and Corey Allen) wander off the beach and into the seemingly-perfect Beverly Hills home of an unhappy housewife (Leslie Stevens’ real-life spouse, Kate Manx). Shimmering with sexual tension and lensed in stunning B&W by master cameraman Ted McCord (THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE, EAST OF EDEN), PRIVATE PROPERTY is both an eerie, neo-Hitchcockian thriller and a savage critique of the hollowness of the Playboy-era American Dream.
Warren Oates delivers his first great screen performance here as one of the murderous vagabonds, years before he emerged as one of the finest character actors of his generation; his bizarre, voyeuristic Lennie-and-George relationship with the underrated Corey Allen (James Dean’s hot rod rival in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE) is fueled by a barely-suppressed homoeroticism. Shot almost entirely in the Beverly Hills home where director Stevens and lead actress Manx lived at the time, PRIVATE PROPERTY is a simmering thriller tinged with deeply unnerving elements of autobiography–and all the voyeurism anyone could ask for.
Three years ago David Marriott, now Cinelicious Pics’ Director of Acquisitions, sat in on an early screening of UCLA Archive’s initial preservation of PRIVATE PROPERTY (which, once completed, would go on to premiere at the UCLA Festival of Preservation in March of 2015). “I was completely bowled over by the film,” Marriott recalls. “A sort of hothouse late-period film noir, PRIVATE PROPERTY is deeply bizarre and incredibly compelling. Considering the talent involved – director Stevens, cameraman Ted McCord, actor Warren Oates – it’s very rare to rediscover a completely lost crime film like this.”
