Superman Celebrates 40th Anniversary with release of Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack and Digital 11/6
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC Entertainment announced today that 1978’s Superman, featuring the beloved DC Super Hero, will be released on Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack and Digital on November 6th. An Alexander Salkind presentation and directed by Richard Donner (The Goonies, Lethal Weapon, The Lost Boys), the film stars Academy Award® winner Marlon Brando (On the Waterfront, The Godfather) as Jor-El, Academy Award winner Gene Hackman (The French Connection, Unforgiven) as Lex Luthor, Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, and Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman.
The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of Superman will feature Dolby VisionTM HDR that dramatically expands the color palette and contrast range and uses dynamic metadata to automatically optimize the picture for every screen, frame by frame. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of Superman will also feature a Dolby Atmos® soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead.
To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required, or a Dolby Atmos enabled sound bar. Dolby Atmos soundtracks are also fully backward compatible with traditional audio configurations and legacy home entertainment equipment.
Superman will be available on Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack for $41.99 SRP and includes an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with the feature film in 4K with HDR and a Blu-ray disc with the feature film and special features. Fans can also own Superman in 4K Ultra HD via purchase from select digital retailers beginning on November 6th.

Vimeo Short of the Week Debut: Exit Strategy
On Monday, August 4, the sci-fi thriller, Exit Strategy, debuted as Vimeo’s Short of the Week. Exit Strategy was a standout at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and has been referred to has one of the best sci-fi works of the year. The film was the winner of the Grand Prize at the Louisiana Film Festival and also received a Short Film Achievement Award at the Mammoth Film Festival. The film stars Christopher O’Shea (Patriots Day, “Madam Secretary”) along with Richard Kohnke (When The Game Stands Tall) and follows two brothers in a time loop working to prevent a fatal outcome. The film will also be available via Amazon Prime Video Direct.
Cinedigm Acquires RIVER RUNS RED | Here’s the New Trailer for the Film Releasing November 9
Cinedigm Corp (NASDAQ: CIDM) announced today that it has acquired North American distribution rights to the intense revenge thriller, RIVER RUNS RED, starring Taye Diggs (THE BEST MAN HOLIDAY, CHICAGO), George Lopez (LOPEZ TONIGHT, RIO 1& 2), Luke Hemsworth (HICKOCK, WESTWORLD), RJ Mitte (BREAKING BAD) and John Cusack (CON AIR, THE PAPERBOY). Cinedigm will release the picture in select theaters and On Demand and Digital November 9, with a Blu-ray™ and 4K Ultra HD release to follow December 11, 2018.
From writer and director Wes Miller (PRAYER NEVER FAILS) and his production company, Sweet Unknown Studios, RIVER RUNS RED follows respected Judge Charles Coleman (Taye Diggs), who has devoted his life to law enforcement. When his son is shot in a traffic stop gone awry, Coleman turns to his long-time friend, Detective Horace (John Cusack), and discovers an unchecked pattern of violence with these same cops.
Betrayed by the system he swore to uphold, Coleman joins forces with another bereaved father (George Lopez), and the two men take the law into their own hands.

Hollywood in Pixels Announces 4th Annual Silver Pixel Awards
Hollywood In Pixels, Inc., along with Presenting Sponsors Snap, Inc. and Variety, announce the 4th Annual Silver Pixel Awards, an evening to celebrate innovation and success in Hollywood Film Marketing. The event will take place on October 24, 2018 at Snap, Inc. in Venice, CA.
This year’s Silver Pixel Honoree is Amy Elkins, Executive Vice President, Media & Marketing Innovation for STX Entertainment. Elkins’ extensive career achievements in digital marketing and media have led her to oversee media and innovation at STXfilms. In her time at STX Entertainment, Elkins has consistently pushed for innovation and creative use of digital, technology and data on campaigns for films including Den of Thieves, I Feel Pretty, The Foreigner, Bad Moms and A Bad Moms Christmas.
Previous Silver Pixel Honorees include Doug Neil, EVP of Digital Marketing at Universal Pictures, and Dwight Caines, Co-President of Marketing at Universal Pictures.
Amy Elkins will be joined by two women whose achievements have also had a significant impact on the digital landscape of film marketing. Anthy Price, EVP of Media and Integrated Marketing and Synergy at Walt Disney Studios, is Hollywood In Pixels’ first Vanguard Award Honoree, an honor bestowed on a non-digital executive who greatly supported digital efforts and helped the discipline gain ground in the marketing framework for film.
Price has been a leader supporting digital innovation with media dollars, and has become recognized as an executive willing to take chances in the digital space. Anthy’s leadership has been front and center over the many years she has been in the business, from her first buys on AOL with never-been-done before campaigns including Universal’s ET 20th Anniversary, to most recently the outstanding digital campaigns for titles such as Beauty and the Beast, Black Panther, and Avengers: Infinity War.
Sarah Pollok will receive the first-ever Rising Pixel Award, an award given to a mid-career executive who has already had notable impact in the digital community and is a Silver Pixel Honoree in the making. As VP of Digital Media at Warner Bros., Sarah has proven to be a smart, data-driven risk-taker whose bets have led to strong campaign results, most recently on The Nun, The Meg and Crazy Rich Asians.
The organization will also honor groundbreaking digital marketing campaigns from the past that drove innovation in the medium. Previous Silver Pixel Award campaigns include Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Blair Witch Project, Minority Report, Borat and Any Given Sunday. This year’s campaigns will be announced at the event. The organization will also award a Future Silver Pixel Award to a campaign from the last 12 months that has broken the mold and will stand the test of time as a groundbreaking work.

ALPHA: THE AWAKENING: A Mind-Bending Post-Apocalyptic Flick Inspired by Classic Twilight Zone and Outer Limits!
ALPHA: THE AWAKENING tells the story of a man who wakes up from deep sleep to discover that he is the last man on earth and there is a dark force coming from the sky. Written, directed, and starring Shahin Sean Solimon, the film has everything a genre fan would love to see in an exciting sci-fi film, including aliens, flying saucers, giant pods, robots, the undead, and great visual effects, including some classic stop motion technology!
ALPHA: THE AWAKENING promises to be a dramatic, character-driven ride about a man (Apollo) waking up as the last human on Earth. The project has many hidden metaphors and “easter eggs,” along with practical effects, CGI/VFX, action, and aliens called “Octaliens” in this mind-bending movie. It is also being filmed with state-of-the-art technology and will be a full 4K HD movie. “I was a big fan of Rod Serling growing up,” says Solimon. “In fact, I would find myself cutting class to stay home and watch The Twilight Zone or the Outer Limits TV shows on channel 5 in Los Angeles.” According to Solimon, the driving force and inspiration behind ALPHA: THE AWAKENING is its originality and idea. “I loved the storytelling, substance, and characters in classic Sci-Fi TV which would drive the plot, all wrapped in a supernatural or sci-fi setting, so I wrote this as an original story with that philosophy in mind. I hope it will resonate with the fans.”
ALPHA: THE AWAKENING was produced in a creative and family environment, with Solimon’s daughter Madelyn being mentored to learn the ropes of film production, in realistic, hands-on approach of the good, the bad and the difficulties of making and distributing a film. The film co-stars actress/model Ginger Christie, who plays a prominent role in the picture. A portion of any profits the film generates will go to a Children’s foundation to be named, once all is approved. Solimon’s company Giant Flick LLC aims to give where it can, and possibly influence others in the community of indie Hollywood filmmakers to do the same.
