WEEKEND ROUNDUP: Avengers Infinity War, Steve Martin, Hostiles, Midnight Sun, Chappaquiddick, The Trade, Ricky Gervais, Shout! Takes Podcast and Voltron 3

From Columbus, Ohio to Guerrero, Mexico and countless cities in between, the opioid epidemic has ravaged communities on both sides of the border. On Friday, March 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the finale of SHOWTIME’s “The Trade” strives to find hope and closure for the stories highlighted throughout the season.

In Columbus, Sergeant Nate Smith zeroes in on a dealer mixing heroin with lethal Fentanyl, and also helps recovering addicts get treatment. In Mexico, Don Miguel finds himself trapped in the drug trade, while Mario, a young activist, looks for his missing brother.  Back in Atlanta, Skyler signs himself up for long-term treatment but struggles to follow through.

Directed and executive produced by Oscar nominee and Emmy® winner Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land) along with executive producer and showrunner Pagan Harleman, “The Trade” seeks to break through the simplistic and often erroneously counterproductive assumptions surrounding the opioid phenomenon by spotlighting those caught in the crisis: friends and neighbors, sisters, and brothers.

Shout! Factory Announces New Slate for ‘Shout!Takes’ Podcast

Shout! Factory, a leading multi-platform entertainment company, unveils the new slate for its weekly podcast, Shout!Takes. Hosted by Shout! Factory’s Brian Ward, Shout! Takes grants pop culture enthusiasts a listen to in-depth interviews from some of the people behind fan-favorite movies and TV series.
The upcoming lineup features episodes with Rose McIver (iZombie), Jerry Levine and Matt Adler (Teen Wolf), Samantha Newark (Jem and the Holograms), Len Wein (Swamp Thing) and Norman Lear (All in the Family).
Shout! Factory, long known for its award-winning bonus features, created Shout!Takes as an opportunity for fans to hear the raw, mostly uncut interview footage only previously heard as edited documentaries and featurettes on favorite Shout! Factory and Scream Factory releases. New episodes are available each Friday wherever podcasts are found.
Recently launched episodes of the podcast have featured Reginald Hudlin (Black Panther), Peter Dinklage (Living in Oblivion), LeVar Burton (Captain Planet), Rob Reiner (Misery), Megan Ward (Dark Skies), Robert Guillaume (Sports Night), Jeff Goldblum (Into the Night), Keith David (The Thing), John Lithgow (Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Raising Cain), and many more.
In addition to his duties as President of Entertainment at the BET network and producing and directing hit movies and TV shows, Reginald Hudlin became known as one of the foremost writers of Marvel’s Black Panther comic book and adapted the first six issues of his run as an animated mini-series. In this episode of Shout!Takes, Brian Ward sits down with Reginald to discuss his lifelong love of comics, getting the opportunity to write for Black Panther, the importance of the character in media, and converting the series to animation for Marvel Knights. Plus, despite the interview having been shot in 2011, Reginald even discusses his favorite character’s inevitable presence on the silver screen in his own film; a desire that has finally come true, as the film Black Panther officially joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe today.
Though the other characters didn’t always see it, in Soap and its spinoff sitcom, Benson, his character was always the smartest man in the room. In Aaron Sorkin’s Sports Night, not only was he the smartest man in the room, he also got to be the boss. Of course, we’re talking about the iconic Robert Guillaume, who, sadly, passed away in October of 2017. This week, we honor his memory by presenting the complete interview with the man behind “Isaac Jaffe.” In this episode, Robert talks about why he found Isaac’s name so interesting; the power of Aaron Sorkin’s writing; mentoring the up-and-coming cast; which cast member did the best Richard Pryor impersonation; and the fateful day he survived a stroke in his dressing room.
This week saw the fourth season debut of iZombie, but before she was sautéing brains, Rose McIver was kicking butt as Summer Landsdown in Power Rangers: RPM. In this episode, the down-to-earth star talked about her character, working on the hit franchise in her native country New Zealand, and the loving Power Rangers fans.
Episode 13 – Jerry Levine & Matt Adler (Teen Wolf) – Coming March 9
As “Stiles,” Jerry Levine was the conniving best friend everyone loved and, quite possibly, the inventor of the snarky t-shirt craze. As “Lewis,” Matt Adler played the conscience of the 1985 Michael J. Fox hit, Teen Wolf. But in 2017, we reunited the two of them to discuss the film’s productions and its legacy over the last three decades.
