THE PLOT THUS FAR
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“The Walking Dead” opens its fourth season with Rick shaken in his leadership. The stuff with the killer Flu goes on too long and the Governor’s retribution is rushed. But, do I feel that way because I already the Prison storyline in the comics? There’s such a disconnect between the TV and Comic fans of this series, that I have a hard time reconciling it. Honestly, it’s what almost drove from the show during the second season.
What is it about the translation from comic to the small screen that is bugging the hell out of me with this show? The stuff with the tank, the death of the Governor and just the deaths in general hit that Romero bone in my body. But, this show is a soap opera dressed in horror elements. While the character work picked up amazingly by the end of the season, I have to ask whether if I’m asking too much. Ultimately, the show is going to have to decide what it wants to be: searing relationship drama or a tale of the Zombie Apocalypse.
The Blu-Ray comes with commentaries, featurettes, deleted scenes and extended episodes as the special features. The A/V Quality continues to be astounding for this series. The Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track is reference quality, as this show lives and dies by the walker rich environments it creates. The 1080p transfer continues to outshine anything broadcast on AMC HD. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans.
