Victor and Valentino: Folk Art Foes Season 1 Volume 1 [DVD review]

Victor and Valentino kick off the first volume of their Season 1 adventures by being completely unknown to me. They have a supernatural grandmother and somehow that kicks them off onto magical adventures. It’s like Supernatural for kids that are way into Coco. All of these are words about things I don’t watch. While the current season of Victor and Valentino is expected to end at the end of May, I’ve got nothing. Seriously, I tried.

Victor and Valentino: Folk Art Foes Season 1 Volume 1 [DVD review] 1

This first chunk of Victor and Valentino’s debut runs about 3 1/2 hours. Honestly, I don’t know what else needs to be said. While the material is interesting to kids seeing this kind of stuff for the first time, I’ve grown dim on a lot of these Cartoon Network shows. For every Infinity Train you get to see, there is something like this. While these shows are cool for representation, they don’t always entertain older viewers.

That’s not a bad thing. Honestly, it makes me think back to being a kid and making my parents watch everything from Robotech to X-Men and seeing their eyes glaze over. While younger kids will learn about mythic creatures and magic, I feel that eye glaze start to appear. It’s not anything against the show, but more indicative about how viewing patterns change as we age.

The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is fairly typical for a show of its recent age. But, it sounds pretty solid. I’d recommend a purchase to kid fans.

Victor and Valentino: Folk Art Foes Season 1 Volume 1 is now available!
