VICE VERSA

VICE VERSA REVIEWED

“Vice Versa” followed the late 80s obsession with body switching. These comedies came at a time where nostalgia was having its second peak after “Happy Days” folded. But, there was something far more sinister about the late 80s body switch movies. They played like Reagan era propaganda meant to instruct kids how they need to act like adults. Plus, it gave adults the hope that they had some childlike wonder left in them. It was a lie, but it helped Judge Reinhold sleep well at night.

The rest of the movie is just a bunch of scenes of Judge Reinhold and Fred Savage acting put-out in the school cafeteria. There’s a loveable dorky female lead, but there’s also the cranky older female supporting role. Everyone bumbles together, as a litany of safe 80s hits plays in the background. Then, they find the mystical device that puts them back into their bodies. Is anything learned? No. Why? Because I immediately forgot about this movie and ate 6 boxes of Velveeta to win a Willow poster.

I didn’t even like the movie, but that dwarf got me to eat cheese product for a poster. Judge Reinhold didn’t have that kind of hold on me.
