ULTIMATE LIFE, THE

ULTIMATELIFEbrbox

THE PLOT THUS FAR

This touching story of hope, love and family values is the much anticipated follow-up to the heartwarming film and best-selling book The Ultimate Gift. Three years after receiving life-changing gifts from his grandfather Red, Jason Stevens finds himself in need of guidance once again. When the foundation his grandfather left him is challenged in a courtroom battle, and the love of his life travels to Haiti to support a hospital in need, Jason realizes he’s lost all direction. But just when it looks as though he may lose it all, he discovers his grandfather’s precious journal. With everything he loves hanging in the balance, Jason embarks on an incredible journey into the past – through the journal – to learn what it truly means to live…THE ULTIMATE LIFE.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

“The Ultimate Life” is a touching story that plays like neo-con religious propaganda. There’s a huge market for that kind of stuff, sometimes it’s not all bad. This film takes the far more abstract path by trying to play to the biggest market. Still, it’s baby boomer schlock that is designed to force younger people to learn never-ending lessons from their elders. The kind of forced subservience might be keen in the Christian world, but I’ve got issues with it. Knowing that most older people miss my first paragraph, I’ll throw on a brave face of bullshit for them.

One of the more important lessons we learn from this film is that the greatest fortune in life is love and family, without those, not even a billion dollars could ever truly satisfy our desires. Riches, possessions, trophies, and anything else we accumulate on this world will fade, and it will fail us. Ultimately, we are remembered by our legacy, which is not only what we have done in life, but also by our family and future generations, who will be our legacy.

The Blu-Ray comes with a Digital HD copy, deleted scenes, interviews, featurette and music video. The A/V Quality sports a dynamic DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track. The 1080p transfer is a little overcast and dry. It’s not the worse, but it stands out. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to the curious.
