TEENAGE COCKTAIL

TEENAGE COCKTAIL 1

TEENAGE COCKTAIL REVIEWED

“Teenage Cocktail” is quite the heavy picture. Designed to play like a typical exploitation feature, the movie treats modern teenage girls at face value. They’re smart, capable and unsure of what to do with such freedom. They steal, they cheat and they find profit in webcam modelling. Eventually, they get shamed in High School and want to head to NYC for more profits. That’s when they meet a slight pedophile offering them a place to stay.

Pat Healy plays the older Frank, as a guy that’s waiting to pounce. When he acts on his feelings, it’s never in the way that a Lifetime Original Movie would have you believe. He’s still friendly, but aggressive in wanting respect from the girls. Thankfully, the film doesn’t approach him with kid gloves or tries to teach the girls a lesson. I remember a time when indie movies like this used to get mainstream theatrical play. When did we lose that degree of maturity in the American cinema?

Somewhere and somehow, I’ll find a way to blame DC. I was told by the secret Shadow Council of Film Critics that I’m missing my DC Films slam quota. Hopefully, this appeases them. Watch the movie.
