MOTHRA PICASSO TRIGGERThe news before Picasso Trigger coming to Blu-ray

Mill Creek Entertainment, the leader in value home entertainment, is excited to announce the upcoming release of the 1961 sci-fi kaiju classic Mothra as a special edition SteelBook® Blu-ray July 9, 2019. This magnificent monster movie in its all-new collectible packaging will be available for $24.98 SRP.

This special edition release makes the North American Blu-ray debut of Mothra and includes both the U.S. theatrical cut as well as the original, extended Japanese version of the film. Special features include feature-length commentary with authors and Japanese Sci-Fi historians Steve Ryfle & Ed Godziszewski, trailers, and a photo gallery. The film is presented in a 2.35:1 widescreen aspect ratio with DTS-HD Master Audio for both English and Japanese tracks and English Subtitles on a dual-layered Blu-ray disc.

“We are excited to offer Mothra on Blu-ray as a gorgeous SteelBook® release,” states Barrett Evans, VP of Marketing for Mill Creek Entertainment. “The timing is ideal to present the original Mothra as new audiences will soon see the iconic character in the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters movie.”

Mothra was produced by Tomoyuki Tanaka, directed by Ishiro Honda, with SFX directed by Eiji Tsuburaya – the same team that created the original Godzilla feature film. The beloved gigantic moth became one of the most popular Japanese characters appearing in 14 feature films and has solidified its presence in the big-screen MonsterVerse.

Following reports of human life on Infant Island, the supposedly deserted site of atomic bomb tests, an international expedition to the heavily-radiated island discovers a native tribe and tiny twin female fairies called “Shobijin” who guard a sacred egg. The overzealous expedition leader kidnaps the Shobijin to exhibit in a Tokyo stage show but soon they summon their protector, hatching the egg and releasing a giant caterpillar. When Mothra arrives in Japan and finally transforms into the ultimate beast, impervious to modern weapons, the nation and its people face their destruction.

Mothra stars Emi Ito and Yumi Ito (known as the popular singing duo “The Peanuts”), Hiroshi Koizumi (Mothra vs. Godzilla), Kyoko Kagawa (High and Low), Jerry Ito (The Manster) and Frankie Sakai (Shogun). Musical numbers by Emi and Yumi Ito highlight this film as they sing “Mosura No Uta (The Mothra Song),” “Daughters of Infant Island” and “Mosura ya Mosura.”

Picasso Trigger & Savage Beach Blu-rays Slated for July 9 release!

Mill Creek Entertainment, the recognized leader in the independent home entertainment industry will release the next two films from the cult Bullets, Bombs and Babes film series, Picasso Trigger and Savage Beach on Blu-ray. These action-packed adventure flicks will finally be available in high definition widescreen for the first time ever as individual Blu-ray releases loaded with special features. Each will be available for $19.98 SRP on July 9, 2019.

“The response from fans regarding the Blu-ray releases of Malibu Express and Hard Ticket to Hawaii has just been tremendous,” says Arlene Sidaris, producer of the Malibu Bay Films library. “The 4K transfers that the American Genre Film Archive have produced allow our movies to be preserved and enjoyed all over again.”

Picasso Trigger follows spy Travis Abilene (Steve Bond, TV’s General Hospital) and L.E.T.H.A.L. agents Donna and Taryn (Dona Speir and Hope Marie Carlton) from Paris to Texas to Hawaii to Las Vegas as they attempt to thwart the insidious Salazar, a master of deception who is about to unveil his masterpiece: a plot to blast his enemies to kingdom come. Co-starring Cynthia Brimhall, Patty Duffek, and a group of beautiful women who are armed with an arsenal of weapons, prepare for double-crosses, dive-bombing toy planes, exploding boomerangs, and rocket-launching leg crutches.

In Savage Beach Donna and Taryn return as federal agents whose latest undercover mission ends when their plane crashes on a deserted South Seas island. Their hope of a quick rescue is destroyed when they are captured by a group of U.S. Naval Commandoes who have come to the island seeking a fortune hidden there 50 years earlier. But a traitor has infiltrated their group. A band of terrorists storms the island, determined to grab the gold and leave no witnesses behind. Donna and Taryn are caught in the crossfire as the warring factions fight over the golden treasure. Their only hope of living is to join with their captors… and pray that the men’s dedication to duty is stronger for their lust for gold.

Filmmaker Andy Sidaris was a pioneer in sports television production, directing hundreds of live events ranging from nationally televised games to Olympic programs which earned him seven Emmy awards. In the mid-1980s, Sidaris with his wife Arlene produced twelve films affectionately referred to as the “Bullets, Bombs and Babes” series. The trademark of these action and humor-packed movies was casting models as the gun-toting secret agents tracking down muscle-bound bad guys also armed with heavy artillery. This formula of beautiful people in exotic locations with big production values and even bigger explosions set these films apart from other after-hours fare and has secured a loyal and devout fanbase.

I’m going to be mad at every reader that doesn’t pick up Picasso Trigger.

Movie synopsis
Filmed over the course of three years, MIA AND THE WHITE LION centers on a willful young girl named Mia whose life is turned upside down when her family decides to leave London to manage a lion farm in South Africa. When a beautiful white lion, Charlie, is born, Mia finds happiness once again and develops a special bond with the growing cub. As Charlie grows to full size, Mia uncovers an upsetting secret kept hidden by her father. Distraught that Charlie could be in danger, Mia decides to rescue him. The two friends set out on an incredible journey across the South African savanna in search of a sanctuary where Charlie can live out his life in freedom.
Brought to life by French director, Gilles De Maistre, the expansive production was filmed at the Welgedacht Reserve in South Africa. De Maistre chose to shoot throughout a three-year period so that the film’s young stars Daniah De Villiers and Ryan Mac Lennon could bond and develop real relationships with the lions and other animals that appear in the film. Kevin Richardson, a lion expert also known as the “Lion Whisperer” oversaw the entire production process and all interactions between the lions and the children ensuring the safety of the animals, cast and crew on set.
