STAR TREK ENTERPRISE REVIEWED
“Enterprise” was the last gasp before Paramount said let’s just revamp this noise. Designed to capitalize on the early 00s Prequel craze, this was supposed to be the answer to many long-standing Trekker questions. Unfortunately, only superfans cared about this. Never quite getting the feel of the Original Series and never having the material to stand on its own, the show quickly became a nostalgia cash-in. You don’t win new fans by retreading 1966, just ask Whovians.
After watching 4 seasons of this series, I have to say that I didn’t discover something new. I did like how Season 4 just dropped all pretense and tried its hardest to be the 60s series. Outside of some fun visuals and even a TNG reference or two, nothing really mattered. The visuals were great, but I’m a sucker for older Sci-Fi looks. If you’re curious and don’t own it already, go ahead and pick it up. You have my permission.
That being said, this might be the last of the original TV shows to get a HD release. Due to costs and how DS9 and Voyager were shot, it seems like those shows getting the 1080p upgrade might be a bridge too far. Keep that in mind, when you journey back to Archer’s time at the helm. There’s potential in the show, but it didn’t just work for me. Hit me up on social media to tell me why I’m wrong.
