THE SPOILS BEFORE DYING REVIEWED
“The Spoils Before Dying” is the second Funny or Die bite at the Eric Jonrosh apple. Creating a figure to spoof the literary adaptation mini-series of the 70s and 80s creates a show that is almost too spot-on to be that funny. While the first season had more laughs from a broader cast, so much of the show’s time is thrown on Kristen Wiig and Michael Kenneth Williams. The show itself is less concerned about being funny and more about creating a world. Well, the faux sensibilities of a vintage world created through forced product placements. The French commercial appeal of the film is forced, but no less than Tarantino showing Kill Bill in Shaw Scope.
If you’re a fan of the first season, well you should know that there is zero carryover between shows. But, this is the kind of hipster chuckles that keeps most of Tumblr alive. So, if you’re an adult that rocks a scarf even in the summer, this will be a must-buy for you.
