Spider-Noir Brings Nicolas Cage May 27 on Prime Video

Here’s the Marvel series that puts Nicolas Cage in his first leading television role: Prime Video today unveiled the official trailer for Spider-Noir, the live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, premiering on MGM+’s linear channel May 25, 2026, before rolling out globally on Prime Video May 27 across more than 240 countries and territories. Cage stars as Ben Reilly, a seasoned, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero following a deeply personal tragedy.
For the first time ever, viewers can choose their own viewing experience as the series will be available to stream in two ways: “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color.” The ensemble cast includes Emmy winner Lamorne Morris (Fargo, New Girl), Li Jun Li (Sinners, Babylon), SAG winner Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), and Oscar nominee Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), with the Academy Award-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse—Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal—serving as executive producers.
The CCXPMX26 Premiere
The official trailer made its world premiere to a packed room of 2,100 fans at Centro Banamex Convention Center in Mexico City for CCXPMX26, the largest pop culture festival in the world.
Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Jack Huston, and Karen Rodriguez joined creator/co-showrunner/executive producer Oren Uziel on stage to introduce the series. The panel debuted an extended scene offering attendees an immersive first look at the world, tone, and stakes of Spider-Noir, accompanied by a special video greeting from Nicolas Cage himself.
Convention attendees also had the opportunity to collect five different badges inspired by the series’ iconic characters, designed by Mexican artist Jorge Molina. The Mexico City premiere signals the global scope of the rollout, the series launching across 240+ countries and territories within days of its MGM+ debut.

The Dual Viewing Experience
Spider-Noir offers something no series has attempted before: viewer choice between visual presentations.
“Authentic Black & White” presumably honors the noir tradition that informs the series’ 1930s setting and genre framework. Classic noir operated in shadows and contrast, its visual language inseparable from its storytelling. Watching Spider-Noir in black and white would connect the series to that tradition, the superhero elements filtered through Depression-era aesthetics.
“True-Hue Full Color” provides the contemporary viewing experience, the production design and costume work visible in their full palette. The series was clearly designed to work both ways, its compositions and lighting serving monochrome and color simultaneously.
The choice empowers viewers to determine their relationship to the material, whether they want the period authenticity or the modern accessibility.
Nicolas Cage’s Television Debut
Cage’s first leading TV role represents significant moment for both the actor and the medium.
His career has spanned blockbusters and independent films, Oscar-winning drama (Leaving Las Vegas) and gonzo action (Con Air, Face/Off), recent critical renaissance (Pig, Dream Scenario) and genre work that earned cult followings. He previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, making this live-action portrayal a continuation of his relationship with the character.
Ben Reilly as “seasoned, down on his luck private investigator” suits Cage’s particular gifts. The actor excels at characters whose weariness masks capability, whose apparent defeat conceals depths that circumstances eventually reveal. A superhero forced to grapple with his past following personal tragedy provides the emotional stakes that Cage’s best work requires.

The Ensemble Cast
The supporting cast brings television prestige alongside film credentials.
Lamorne Morris, Emmy winner for Fargo and beloved for New Girl, brings both dramatic range and comedic timing.
Li Jun Li, recently seen in Sinners and Babylon, adds to the period atmosphere.
Jack Huston, SAG winner for Boardwalk Empire, has already proven his facility with 20th-century American crime drama.
Karen Rodriguez (The Hunting Wives, Acapulco) and Abraham Popoola (Atlas, Slow Horses) round out the main cast.
Brendan Gleeson, Oscar-nominated for The Banshees of Inisherin and Emmy winner, provides the prestige weight that limited series casting often seeks.
Guest stars include Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.
The Creative Pedigree
Spider-Noir assembles talent from across television and film’s most acclaimed recent work.
Emmy winner Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve) directed and executive produced the first two episodes, bringing the visual sophistication that made those series distinctive.
Oren Uziel (The Lost City, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel’s The Punisher, Shantaram) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Uziel and Lightfoot developed the series with the Academy Award-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal executive produce, the Into the Spider-Verse architects bringing their understanding of the Marvel multiverse to live-action noir. Lord and Miller produce through their Lord Miller shingle alongside Aditya Sood and Dan Shear. Pascal also serves as executive producer via Pascal Pictures.
Cage and Pavlina Hatoupis also serve as executive producers, indicating Cage’s creative investment beyond performance.
Sony Pictures Television produces exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video.

The 1930s Marvel Universe
Setting Spider-Noir in Depression-era New York distinguishes it from every other Marvel adaptation currently in production.
The period provides both visual distinctiveness and thematic resonance. Private investigators navigating corrupt cities, heroes operating outside systems that have failed ordinary people, personal tragedy driving individuals toward justice, all these noir conventions apply naturally to superhero mythology.
Ben Reilly as “the city’s one and only superhero” suggests a world where superpowers are anomaly rather than norm, where his abilities make him singular rather than one among many. The isolation that implies, combined with the tragedy that’s driven him to his current state, creates the conditions for noir storytelling that happens to involve Marvel characters.
Who Should Watch May 25/27
If Nicolas Cage’s recent work has impressed you: His television debut brings the intensity that defined Pig and Dream Scenario to sustained series format.
If noir aesthetics appeal: The black-and-white viewing option and 1930s setting connect the series to genre traditions that superhero content rarely engages.
If the Into the Spider-Verse team excites you: Lord, Miller, and Pascal bringing their sensibility to live action suggests creative ambition beyond typical Marvel television.
If you want viewing choice: The dual presentation options put control in your hands, authentic period or contemporary color depending on your preference.
If prestige ensemble casts draw you: Cage, Gleeson, Morris, Huston, and the assembled talent suggest something more than standard superhero fare.
