But, the debonair charm of future Bond actor Roger Moore was enough to spawn a legion of fans. The less said about the craptacular 1990s film adaptation…the better. Still, it’s a fun series that is headline by guest spots from the best of British 1960s cinema and a few spots from people like Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie.
The first two seasons were spent trying to break out of the shadow of Bond. Well, the literary and cinematic Bond. The first two years play far more serious than what most fans will remember The Saint. Still, it was neat to see Roger Moore do the dry run for his later Bond turn. The DVD comes with audio commentary and a handful of episodes.
