Roux is trading the usual creator content for Coney Island, convertibles and a day running around New York in the official music video for “Phoenix,” the first musical collaboration between Marshmello and Portugal. The Man.
Directed by Ava Rikki, the newly released video stars Roux alongside fellow model HoneyBobaBear as the pair turn New York into their playground for the day.
There are worse ways to spend a music video shoot.
Roux and HoneyBobaBear Take New York
“Phoenix” follows Roux and HoneyBobaBear through a loose New York adventure built around the natural chemistry between the two friends.
The pair hit Coney Island for amusement park rides and time on the beach before taking the party elsewhere. Shopping, dancing, an outdoor café and a spontaneous convertible ride through the city all make their way into the finished video.
Rather than forcing the pair through an elaborate narrative, director Ava Rikki lets their friendship carry much of the action. The result plays like someone dropped two friends into New York with a camera crew and told them to have a good day.
“Everything about this shoot was such a happy, fun experience,” Roux said. “Ava was amazing to work with and created an atmosphere where we could really have fun with it, and HoneyBobaBear was the perfect person to spend the day running around New York with.”
“We were laughing, dancing and having the best time, and I think you can genuinely see that in the video. I’m so grateful I got to be part of something this special.”

The video accompanies the first collaboration between electronic producer Marshmello and Portugal. The Man, pairing the artists with a visual that keeps things considerably lighter than the song title might suggest.
For Roux, “Phoenix” also marks another step into mainstream entertainment following her recent work across social media and consumer brand campaigns.
This time, she gets to spend the assignment dancing around Coney Island and cruising through New York with HoneyBobaBear. Some jobs are easier to sell than others.
