THE PLOT THUS FAR

Leo Palamino is a failed-writer-turned-dishwasher made famous for his many flaws and shortcomings in a blog called “Why You Suck,” a huge Internet success written by his ex-wife. Then Leo meets Colette, the girl of his dreams… on the day she is marrying the perfect man. And so, the ultimate underdog story begins as Leo, a fearless dreamer, risks all to show Colette and the whole wide world all that is right with a man famous for being wrong.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

“The Right Kind of Wrong” is a film that looks like it was shot on a “Degrassi” backlot. Basically, the film is about a failed writer who continues to get humiliated by his ex-wife. Fearing being alone forever, he meets a nice soon-to-be-married woman and steals her away. That will show his ex-wife. Leo is a super stud who can land all of the ladies and everyone was wrong to say that he sucked. The last guy that had this much difficulty with the ladies made some questionable life decisions last week. Thankfully, the movie never goes that way.

The aspect of the modern underdog has been challenged in a postmodern world. Some would dare call Leo to be a whiny loser that wants to ruin the lives of others to define himself. What’s so weird about the movie is that it stops being funny for the third act. That’s not a slam on the writing, but a note on the tonal change that hits hard around that finale shift. What was that all about? It seemed too odd to be an artistic choice.

The Blu-Ray comes with deleted scenes, featurettes and a music video as the special features. The A/V Quality is pretty strong for a romantic comedy. The DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track is pretty expansive. The 1080p transfer is more of the same. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
