PRIDE AND JOY REVIEWED

“Pride and Joy” is a look at the 20th anniversary tour for Alligator Records shot in the early 90s. Elvin Bishop, Koko Taylor and many other heavyweights bring their A-Game to the big show. Robert Mugge is quickly becoming my favorite music documentarians, as he backs out of the way of the subject. Rather than forcing a narrative, Mugge allows the artists to form into something that means more than what the audience can imply. By maintaining the border between performer and audience, Pride and Joy shows a world that rings true to the live performance. Stunning work all around and I’d recommend a purchase.
