PEANUTS: EMMY HONORED COLLECTION

“Peanuts Emmy Honored Collection” is a collection of 11 Emmy nominated special from the Peanuts crew. While only two won the top prize, it’s fun to see the less classic releases get their moment in the spotlight. Sure, the decade releases and other DVD opportunities did give these specials a prior Home Entertainment bow. It’s just neat to have them in a themed release. You would’ve figured that the Peanuts would’ve pulled down far more awards outside of the classic Holiday stuff.

The bright spot in the release is “Why, Charlie Brown, Why?”. It’s an interesting cartoon about Linus and Charlie Brown fighting over a sick girl. Watching Linus try to make sense of what’s going on leads to the most character building the little blanketed fellow ever received. Yet, you never hear it getting the attention that it deserves from long-term fans.

It’s an amazing special that was spurred to creation by a Pediatric Oncology Nurse sending a letter to Charles Schultz in 1985. The DVD comes with no special features. However, the A/V Quality is on par with the last few standard definition releases. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.

Release Date: 9/15/15
