“A Path Appears” is four and half hours of documentary material that is meant to make you feel good. Jennifer Garner, Mia Farrow and others journey to the Third World to help kids with education and other necessities. Nicolas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn mean well with their efforts, but they know they need the celebs to get attention. That fact is terribly depressing, but reflects accurately on the state of human existence.
The documentary is great, but it’s fluff. You’re not actually participating in these charitable initiatives. You’re watching celebrities undertake these activities as PR stunts. Sure, they might mean well when they perform these actions. But, what good is it going to do to have the Silk Spectre observe life in Haiti, Colombia or Kenya? The DVD comes with no special features.
