PACT 2, THE

“The Pact 2” starts a few weeks after the end of the first film. The Judas Killer has a copycat that keeps terrorizing Camilla Luddington’s neighborhood. What’s weird is that she keeps having visions of the murders before they happened. A dim FBI agent gets assigned to her case, as the usual modern horror trappings fill in the gaps.

The problem with this film is that it suffers from the same issues that hurt “Halloween II”. This sequel wants to find its own ground, but struggles at every turn of creating a new identity. The jump scares are lame and the extra characters don’t help build a world. Still, I get the feeling that a third movie could build on what is onscreen here.

The Blu-Ray comes with a making-of featurette and a trailer as the special features. The A/V Quality is stunning for a modern horror release. The 1080p transfer plays a bit dark at times. The DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track is strong and supportive. I’d recommend a purchase to the curious.

Release Date: 7/7/15
