NURSE JACKIE: SEASON SIX

THE PLOT THUS FAR

Jackie realizes that sobriety is the ultimate cover for getting high, and now she’s saving lives at work, taking care of her kids and her boyfriend loves the new her. She’s got everyone fooled, but what goes up must come down.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

“Nurse Jackie” spent so much of this season working off the titular character’s relapse. That being said, nothing else happened. Falco got a few quips at the expense of a supporting cast that is continuing to blow the show out of the water. Unfortunately, no one’s watching anything like this on Showtime. Sorry, guys. Your network puts on amazing shows to rival HBO, but the ratings just aren’t there.

Edie Falco and Merritt Weaver keep me glued to the show. But, there’s nothing else left. The filler doctors come in and they feel like an R rated reject from “The Mindy Project”. What is American fiction’s obsession with doctors? There are only X amount of stories you can tell in that setting and “Nurse Jackie” is running out of room in that respect. The show was rumored to be ending soon and I wish it the best. That being said, I don’t believe the show should’ve been allowed to run this long without any sort of oversight. Oh well, it’s not like Falco is going to return to The Sopranos or something. I just fear that we’re losing a great NYC actress to a show that doesn’t that it needs to end.

The Blu-Ray comes with featurettes, deleted scenes and commentaries as the special features. The A/V Quality is on par with the last few Nurse Jackie releases. The 1080p transfer shows no signs of digital noise. Plus, the DTS-HD 7.1 master audio track shows Lionsgate’s commitment to blowing the walls off your home theater. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans.
