NIGHT MOVES REVIEWED

“Night Moves” is about Hackman being his ultimate Hackman. The guy does so much with his voice and posturing in the movie that he remains one of those underrated cinematic tough guys. The scenes were Hackman stalks his cheating wife might be a little much for modern sensitive viewers. However, it’s not about getting vengeance. It’s about putting the fear of God into people that cross the natural line. So much of this Neo-Noir allows for commentary on how certain older men were losing their foothold in a new Western Civilization.

Melanie Griffith and James Woods also made their film debuts with this flick. Melanie Griffith played a teenage nymphomaniac. If I follow the timeline correctly, I guess this film was right before she got mauled by lions during “Roar”. Fun times to be had by all! Also, James Woods always looked that way. You know the look I’m talking about, right? Think Golden Age Looney Tunes caricature of George Raft. Yeah, I’m old.
