NEW YORK GIANTS: ROAD TO XLVI

NEW YORK GIANTS: ROAD TO XLVI 3

THE PLOT THUS FAR

For the second time in five years, the New York Football Giants are world champions! Now the original network broadcasts of the Giants’ entire 2011 playoff run are yours to own in this exciting four-DVD set – New York Giants: Road to XLVI. All the big moments from the Giants’ thrilling playoff ride are here – from the stifling 4th-down stands against Atlanta, to the stunning Hail Mary reception in Green Bay, to the special teams heroics in San Francisco, to the crowning glory of the Giants’ brilliant final drive against New England in Super Bowl XLVI. It was a season to be savored for the Big Blue faithful. Over these four games, New York captured the imagination of an entire nation and their story became a new chapter in the championship history of the NFL’s flagship franchise. New York Giants: Road to XLVI is a must-have for any Giants fan.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

The New York Giants have amazing defense, but they also possess the most overrated quarterback in the NFL. I’ve made my disdain for the lesser Manning well-known throughout the last five years on this site. However, I do have to admire that the Giants keep getting a ton of HD releases for their slightly better than normal performances. While I can’t call the material stunning, it’s still far better than releases in the past for the Steelers or Packers.

It’s hard for me to see the team perform and not think of how a team that lost to the Redskins in seasonal play can bitch their way to the final game. While you could see how they got around the Falcons, the games against the Packers and 49ers were exercises in frustration. But, that’s me projecting or is it? Why can’t I talk about an NFL highlight Blu-Ray without focusing on the Giants? Let’s look into the brass tacks.

The Blu-Ray comes with no special features. However, you get the edited games spread two BD-50 discs. The DTS-HD master audio stereo mix sounds better than I remember. However, the transfer jumps all over the place as it seems the NFL has different standards of what 1080 picture quality means. In the end, I’d only recommend a purchase to Giants fans.
