“Joey’s Toybox” is a fun show about a mother and child having fun. Joey constantly pulls objects out of his toybox to show off to the audience. Kids have a fun time repeating what they see and Joey is often enthusiastic. What’s need is that my kid loves watching the show and trying to find Joey’s toys in her play area. What makes it even better is that Joey shows kids how the things work.
New Words is a fun compilation. It’s more of the same, but Joey holds a kid’s attention. Plus, it builds levels of fascination and attention to certain key objects. Babies will learn a ton from this, plus it’s nice to have a maternal figure there to ground the lessons.
The DVD comes with no special features. However, the A/V Quality is far better than what I see on DirecTV. I don’t know if it’s the fact that BabyFirst is a smaller channel, but the video quality of the ads blows away the live programming. Hell, the Baby’s First Gym show looks like it was shot on a webcam. This disc looks far better and boasts a strong Dolby 2.0 track. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to parents of young kids.
