WHAT WE THOUGHT
“New” works because it’s so damn poppy. While I can’t say that I have a favorite on the CD other than the title track. I can’t put the CD down. It’s a kick in the pants from a guy who hasn’t offered up new music since 2007. Honestly, I think I reviewed that last disc here and I wasn’t too favorable to it. Well, I liked Dance Tonight. Probably more for the video though.
Macca is at his best when he experiments and that’s what you get hear. While you do hear Ringo style drumrolls and a lot of handclapping, the Beatle Maestro is changing up the arrangement and having fun. In his old age, Macca finally realizes that he was never the serious one. He was the music student that like how music hit his ear and he keeps playing left hand to find that new sweet spot. There’s bound to be room for something like that in this modern age. Hence, why I recommend a purchase.
