NEVER STEADY, NEVER STILL

NEVER STEADY, NEVER STILL REVIEWED

“Never Steady, Never Still” should serve as Kathleen Hepburn’s launching pad to bigger things. So much of the film hinges on Shirley Henderson’s performance and Hepburn knowing where to push the narrative and how to hang back. This natural almost Loach style approach strikes a fascinating balance. It shows the indignity of Parkinson’s and how families are restructured around people suffering with the disease. The subplot about the adult son getting an oil field job serves the main point.

Still, I only found myself fascinated by watching Henderson slowly break down. It’s fascinating stuff and I’m quite glad that I got the chance to watch it.
