Curated video on demand service MUBI are celebrating a highly successful Cannes, having announced today a further significant buy for UK/Eire and US: THE HAPPIEST DAY IN THE LIFE OF OLLI MÄKI, the feature debut of Finland’s Juho Kuosmanen, which took the top prize at this year’s Un Certain Regard.
MUBI has also acquired SVOD window rights for Latin America.

THE HAPPIEST DAY IN THE LIFE OF OLLI MÄKI tells the true story of Finnish boxing hero, Olli Mäki, set against the summer of 1962, as Olli attempts to win the world championship featherweight title. Starring Jarkko Lahti as Mäki, the film was unanimously praised in Cannes and picked up the top prize in Cannes’ main sidebar section, which recognizes young, international talent and innovative and daring works.

Ahead of Cannes, MUBI announced a major partnership with the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs (Directors’ Fortnight) which will take the form of a year-long collaboration, sharing iconic films that have screened in the prestigious Cannes programme on MUBI’s global VOD platform. MUBI’s unique, curated film streaming service is currently available in over 200 territories.
