I DREAM OF DANCE with Travis Wall and Denise Wall | Official Trailer
3 Years in Pakistan: The Erik Audé Story, an illuminating documentary follows a young man’s harrowing journey from aspiring actor/stuntman in Hollywood, CA to death row prisoner!
The film will be released theatrically by Gravitas Ventures in association with Point of View Pictures in Los Angeles on Friday, September 28th at the Laemmle NOHO and on all VOD/Digital platforms starting Tuesday, October 2nd. iTunes Pre-Order link is coming soon.
Can you imagine traveling to a foreign country, arriving at the airport and immediately being arrested. For what? Why? Drug smuggling is the charge. Told you’re guilty, you’re strip-searched, tortured, whisked away and sentenced to seven years in one of the most dangerous prisons in the world. How would you prove your innocence when you don’t even speak the language or have a trusted advocate, translator, anyone in your corner? What would you do? What could you do?
This is Erik Aude’s story. It is a real-life saga that took years from his life and almost killed him. It involves daily beatings, solitary confinement, an uncertain future on death row and even the charge of murder. His personal account of survival and of how he managed not only to prove his innocence, but also to walk away with his pride intact is fascinating. We’d like to share it with you.
Erik Audé was a 21-year-old up-and-coming actor and stuntman when he became an unwitting pawn in an international drug scheme. Hired to transport luxury leather goods for sale abroad, he was unaware of the “ticking time bomb” he was carrying. 3.6 kilos of opium had been sewn into the lining of his suitcase. Caught red-handed by authorities at the Islamabad Airport, Erik was in for the ride of his life. His protests of culpability were ignored. To his captors, he was a criminal.
Over the next 3 years, he endured unrelenting torture and unimaginably harsh conditions. Ultimately, the innocence he bravely maintained was finally proven to be true. Erik was released and returned to the United States in December 2004.
Erik Audé and producer/director Jamielyn Lippman have known each other for 20 years since they met as young actors. They became friends but gradually drifted apart. It wasn’t until Jamielyn spotted Erik’s photo in the Los Angeles Times in an article with a headline that read, “US Actor’s Fate Is in Pakistan’s Hands,” that the aspiring filmmaker discovered what had happened to her friend.
Moved by the film, Jim: The James Foley Story, about the famed war correspondent tragically beheaded by ISIS and inspired by Erik’s tale, Jamielyn reached out to Erik to tell his own story on film.
3 Years in Pakistan: The Erik Audé Story is written and directed by Jamielyn Lippman. Lippman and Lorna Paul produce with Erik Audé executive producing and features Erik Audé, Mark Hapka (Parallels, Beyond The Mat), Meagan Good (Think Like A Man), Quinton Aaron (Blindside), Erin O’Brien (Clinton Road, Tremors) & former Major League base player Jose Canseco.
Erik Audé has appeared as an actor, stuntman and served as stunt coordinator in numerous films and television series including American Sniper, Dunkirk, The Scorpion King, Dude! Where’s My Car?, “This is Us”, “Sons of Anarchy” and the upcoming FX series, “The Mayans”. Erik portrayed himself in an episode of National Geographic Channel’s “Locked Up Abroad.”
Jamielyn Lippman’s producer/director’s credits include the Brooke Shields executive-produced When the Bough Breaks: A Documentary About Postpartum Depression and Die Trying about the day-to-day lives of Hollywood actors.
