Cinedigm Releases Hitchcockian Erotic Thriller “X” on Digital & DVD Today
Cinedigm is proud to announce the North American release of X from filmmaker Scott J. Ramsey, arriving on Digital & DVD today. X is a Hitchcockian mix of melodrama, thriller and camp where the head of a mysterious foundation finds out that some secrets never stay buried.
After its World Premiere at the Starburst International Film Festival in Manchester, UK, the sexy thriller was screened at over a dozen festivals around the world. During its extensive film festival run, X took home Best Overall Film at the 2019 Indie Gathering in Cleveland, Ohio.
Armed only with masquerade masks and invitations, guests arrive at a seaside estate for a charity ball hosted by a mysterious foundation. With identities hidden from their fellow party goers, they partake in the sinfully seductive surroundings with their charming host Christian (Hope Raymond), known as X.
The monthly masked debauchery is all fun and games until the arrival of an unexpected guest from Christian’s past, who threatens to bring to light her darkest secret. And when a voyeuristic video reveals a violent crime, Christian must decide if the truth is worth exposing the world she has created.
“We want to invite you to put on your best mask, and enter into our lush, dark world,” said Ramsey. “At the intersection of erotic thriller and queer camp, this is a story about the destructive power of shame. Our goal is to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.”
Shot entirely on location in Northern California, the film was produced by The Foundation, an independent production company founded by Ramsey, producer Hannah Katherine Jost and producer Kevin De Nicolo.
The film is Ramsey’s directorial debut, co-written by Ramsey and Jost. Not satisfied with simply making their feature film directorial debut, the team at The Foundation pushed the bounds of storytelling even further to expand their premiere project.
“Our goal became to create an immersive experience through multi-media storytelling in three different mediums: the film, the album, and the music videos”, shares Ramsey.
The film will be released alongside At the Devil’s Ball, an 11 track “electro-cabaret” album featuring music from the movie by goth pop duo The Major Arcana, available to stream and download on music platforms everywhere on February 16.

SXSW World Premiere: BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION
Queensbury Pictures, the Chicago and London-based production company, will have its world premiere of BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION, a conspiracy thriller directed by Jacob Gentry, at the 2021 SXSW Film Festival. The lineup was announced today by the festival.
The film stars Harry Shum Jr.(All My Life, Glee), Kelley Mack(The Walking Dead) and Chris Sullivan(This Is Us, Stranger Things).
BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION was inspired by actual broadcast interruptions that occurred in the Windy City in the late 1980s, and remain unsolved to this day. The film is an unsettling journey into our collective technological nightmares, confronting our deepest, darkest fears of both man and machine.
While logging tapes of decades-old TV broadcasts, video archivist James (Harry Shum Jr.) discovers a surreal and disturbing clip that James believes is the product of a mysterious broadcast signal hacking.
His discovery takes a sinister turn when he tracks down similar broadcast intrusions that send him on an obsessive mission. Now James must confront two very real possibilities: that the videos may be clues to a crime beyond all comprehension; and that whoever was behind them may be very aware that James is coming uncomfortably close to the truth.
Director Jacob Gentry has made an impressive range of films and TV movies, including the award-winning romantic mystery Synchronicity, the sci-fi thriller Night Sky, the My Super Psycho Sweet 16 trilogy and the thriller The Signal. BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION is based on a feature script developed by Queensbury.
It was written by Tim Woodall &Phil Drinkwater, a British writing duo who submitted the screenplay through New Blood, an initiative set up and run by Queensbury partner Giles Edwards since 2017 in partnership with the U.K.’s premier genre event Frightfest. The film was executive produced by Harry Shum Jr. and produced by Greg Newman, Brett Hays, Giles Edwards and Nicola Goelzhaeuser.
Queensbury Pictures is best known for their debut production Girl On The Third Floor, which was a hit at the SXSW Film Festival in 2019 and quickly went on to become a worldwide fan favorite.
