Topic’s “Summer of Suspense” Slate is Unveiled

Topic, First Look Media’s streaming service dedicated to curating groundbreaking films and series from around the world, announced their upcoming “Summer of Suspense” slate, furthering its dive into the “It’s Criminally Good” vertical of crime thrillers and mysteries.

This summer, Topic will be the exclusive North American streaming home for the award-winning, critically acclaimed Scandinavian series Follow the Money (Bedrag) (3 seasons), The Bridge (Bron/Broen) (4 seasons) and The Killing (Forbrydelsen) (4 seasons); as well as the Russian series Dead Mountain, about the true incident at Dyatlov Pass, which has sparked conspiracy theories for decades; Philly D.A., a thrilling and timely docuseries hit on PBS; and the previously announced German mystery, Dark Woods, based on the true story of a woman whose disappearance went unsolved for 29 years.

Topic has seen subscriptions to the service increase by over 500% over the past year.

Danish financial crime series Follow the Money (Bedrag) is the winner of 6 awards including Best TV Series, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress from the Danish Film Awards.

Award winning, critically acclaimed Danish/Swedish series The Bridge (Bron/Broen) is an international hit, seen in more than 100 countries, with 5 adaptations that triggered the Scandi-noir trend.  FX adapted the series for a USA / Mexico production starring Diane Kruger and Demián Bichir, which ran for two seasons.

The Danish/Norwegian/Swedish series The Killing (Forbrydelsen) was an audience and critical success around the world, garnering international awards including a BAFTA for Best International Series. An American crime drama with the same name starring Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, was based on the original series, and aired on AMC.

New Supernatural Horror Thriller DARK SPELL Comes To Digital Platforms, VOD, Blu-ray

On July 6, the spine-chilling supernatural horror thriller DARK SPELL, directed by Svyatoslav Podgaevsky (Mermaid: The Lake of the Dead,Baba Yaga: Terror of the Dark Forest), will debut on major VOD and digital platforms and on DVD & Blu-ray™ from Shout! Studios and Scream Factory™.

The DVD & Blu-ray™ will contain both the original Russian language audio track and an English-dubbed option. Pre-order for the physical releases are available now at and other fine home entertainment retailers.

DARK SPELL Movie Synopses

Zhenya, a young wife and mother, is heartbroken after her husband leaves her. Desperate, she tampers with the forces of reality by employing sinister magic — in the form of a spell called “Black Wedding” — to bring him back into her arms. Sure enough, her husband returns to her … but his renewed love for Zhenya has become twisted into something far more obsessive and frightening. Now Zhenya has no other choice but to find a way to reverse an irreversible spell, but she soon learns that not even death will part those who have been joined by the Black Wedding.
