About The Unspeakable Milo Binder
Produced, arranged, and performed by multi-instrumentalist Willie Aron (Thee Holy Brothers, Balancing Act), the album also features contributions from bassist/guitarist Victor Krummenacher (Camper Van Beethoven, The Third Mind) and drummer Kevin Jarvis (Brian Wilson, Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams). This album marks Binder’s triumphant return to music after a 33-year hiatus.
Milo Binder’s Return
“I just woke up one day and realized that nothing was stopping me anymore,” said Binder. “Traumas had healed, my family was secure, and suddenly, songs started coming to me again.”
Milo’s musical journey began as a song-obsessed kid, captivated by the great singer-songwriters of his era. His passion for songwriting carried him through his youth, leading to the creation of his own memorable songs and earning him a reputation in post-punk Los Angeles. His debut album, released in 1991 on San Francisco-based Alias Records, featured guest performances by legends like Garth Hudson (The Band), Victoria Williams, and “Sneaky Pete” Kleinow (The Flying Burrito Brothers). Then, inexplicably, Milo Binder (real name Todd Lawrence) vanished from the music scene for over three decades.
The Perfect Match
Thirty-three years later, as fate would have it, Pat Thomas’s new record company Heyday Again—a reboot of Alias’s 1990s-era San Francisco crosstown rival Heyday Records—was also in the process of re-emerging. The timing was serendipitous, and both label and artist decided to make their return together.
Milo Binder is still as passionate about songwriting as ever. His new album, The Unspeakable Milo Binder, is a meticulously crafted “ship-in-a-bottle,” created with love and care for those who appreciate the art of storytelling through music. Don’t miss the chance to see this remarkable artist back on stage after all these years.
