MILLIE & THE LORDS REVIEWED
“Millie & The Lords” is a fascinating film about the impact of The Young Lords. Who were the Young Lords? Well, they were the Civil Rights offshoot for the Latino community. Or is it Latinx now? Anyways, the film follows a young woman who changes her life about meeting the Young Lords. The film uses actual interviews from Young Lords and uses their tenets to frame the film.
Somewhere between the booming soundtrack and the stunning localized cinematography, the film finds an amazing voice. While it won’t be for everyone, the educational potential in the movie is astounding. Hopefully, this film finds enough of an audience this week.
