MEN & CHICKEN REVIEWED
“Men & Chicken” is a very dirty brown looking film. However, it helps to set the stage for the story. Five half-brothers all discover that their parentage is in question. How much of a terror this plays into their lives remains to be seen, but the film builds to this reveal. All the while, hints to the grand finale are littered throughout the film. I missed about half of them on my first viewing. That being said, they should’ve been obvious.
Mads Mikkelsen plays well against type, as he feels almost like Michael Caine in “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”. The man think he’s better than he is, but he keeps getting obsessed with masturbation. When he meets the others, his obsessions make sense to a point. All the while, the film keeps feeling very one track. While that normally annoys me, the build reveals an almost old fashioned take on the classic family mystery. Watch it during Thanksgiving.
