“Little House on the Prairie” enters Season Eight seemingly feeling like this was going to be it for the show. Michael Landon would stay behind the camera most of the year, while prepping for his eventual departure. The supporting characters would get more screen time, as Almanzo and the others started to take focus. Plus, the guy from Highway to Heaven started showing up. Extra points for eagle eye viewers that can spot the Ernie Hudson early role.
There are two TV movie specials that cover a series retrospective and what was the real finale of the show. I guess the plan is to squeeze the last two seasons of the series under the “A New Beginning” banner. It’s an odd mix, but I guess it works. This season was well after my preferred time with the series. The DVD comes with no special features.
