THE AV REVIEW:

Playing by her own rules, Kat lives a fast-paced, rebel lifestyle. Hers is a life of freedom: she sets her own schedule, picks her clients, sleeps late and parties all night. For her shop to be a success, Kat will need to learn how to balance her lifestyle and her business while managing a colorful staff of renowned artists. LA Ink will offer a rare glimpse into an LA that is seldom seen, through the eyes of a true insider.

When Kat Von D was ejected from Miami Ink, I’m sure that Ami James had good reason to let her go. The two artists weren’t exactly getting along, always clashing, especially when Kat didn’t want to do tattoo certain artwork. But in a way, Ami isn’t any better in my opinion. Nothing about him or his crew appeals to me at all. My old boss on his worst day pales to how much I dislike the artists at Miami Ink…and believe me, I hate my old boss. Whenever I watched the show, all I saw were grown men on their periods. Ironically, that show is all guys in the shop while LA Ink has 4 women and 1 man in a shop. Enough about Miami Ink. After Kat left Miami, she went back home to Los Angeles in hopes of opening up a new tattoo shop, and hiring some of the best and brightest tattoo artists to ever use a tattoo needle.

The DVD offers up nothing new. You get standard A/V Quality for this TV on DVD release. The special features are non-existent and the core material only appeals to long-time fans. So, why buy it? Kat Von D. She’s a hot piece and she helps to make the time go by fast.
