La Boyita is the kind of kid movie that I wasn’t expecting. Hell, it just seemed like a summer vacation movie from overseas. You can tell from the meta description that I started building this review while watching the movie. Then, I hit that moment. I think this is a movie about intersex kids. Naturally, I’d only expect this level of maturity from overseas, so it snuck up on me.
That’s not even the main focus of the film. So much of the film hangs on how these kids understand gender and what roles that Latin America places on them. All they want to do is ride horses and play around. Yet, the older people keep forcing their views upon them. Timely to say the least, but I feel it won’t give the answers that so many seem to need. Check it out.
