KESHA TO PERFORM AT GREENWICH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Greenwich International Film Festival today announced GRAMMY-nominated pop superstar Kesha as the performer for its 2019 Epic Anniversary Party, taking place June 1, 2019 at The Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY. This year marks the 5th anniversary of the all female founded, social impact film festival. Over the course of the years GIFF has hosted 350 plus events, awarded $120,000 to filmmakers to support their work and future project, and raised over $500,000 for charities. Proceeds from the festival will benefit charities such as the Human Needs Project and Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich. The mission of the Greenwich International Film Festival is to provide filmmakers with an effective platform to showcase their work with the goal of finding financing opportunities for future projects. Additionally, GIFF harnesses the power of film to serve the greater good by highlighting causes that relate to basic human rights, education, the environment and health care.
With a focus on female filmmakers and empowerment within the industry, Kesha is an thrilling choice of a performer for the festival. Her latest album ‘Rainbow’, called “an artistic feat” by Entertainment Weekly and “the best music of her career” by Rolling Stone, marks a new beginning for Kesha. Based around inner strength and musical exploration, her latest No. 1 album finds Kesha at “her defiant, unbridled best” (USA Today), boasting collaborators ranging from Ben Folds to Eagles of Death Metal to Dolly Parton. The album has garnered praise from the New York Times, Billboard, NPR Music and more, and earned Kesha her first-ever GRAMMY nominations at the 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards for “Best Pop Vocal Album” and “Best Pop Solo Performance” for “Praying”.

Greenwich International Film Festival is set to run May 29 – June 2, 2019. Film tickets go on sale April 1st and will be available for purchase at greenwichfilm.org. The Festival’s full film slate will be announced in early May.

MBF Launches New Streaming Service ‘Music Box Direct’ with Award-winners
Arthouse film distributor Music Box Films is expanding into the streaming sphere with the launch of their new subscription OTT platform, Music Box Direct, beginning April 1, 2019. The new service, founded with the mission of “bringing the arthouse to your house,” will feature a curated selection of content including foreign and independent films, documentaries, and international television, with new content added every month.
The service will first be available exclusively with Roku and will expand to Amazon Fire TV and AppleTV later this year. Available titles upon launch include Pawel Pawlikowski’s Academy Award-winning film Ida, the Academy Award-nominated A Man Called Ove, Terence Davies’ romantic drama starring Rachel Weisz and Tom HiddlestonThe Deep Blue Sea,TheGirl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Debecki’s Meru, and more.
“Music Box Direct is as much an opportunity for growth as it is born out of the necessity of needing a home for arthouse content,” said Lisa Holmes, Director of Home Entertainment Sales at Music Box Films. “The Music Box Direct platform will not only give us a guaranteed streaming home for our catalog content in these rapidly changing times, but will also allow us to develop a direct relationship with viewers and cast a broader net for content than we would for the Music Box Films label.”
Music Box Films, which acquires and distributes films theatrically, on physical media, and on digital platforms, plans to expand its scope of acquisitions to include content for exclusive release on Music Box Direct.
Pricing for the service will begin at $4.99/month or $49.99/year.
