“John Denver: Country Boy” is a fun documentary spotlighting the artist as we approach what would’ve been his 70th birthday. The documentary is pretty typical, so I can’t say yay or no to it. That being said, they do go out of their way to gloss over some of the darker parts of Denver’s life. Still, what did you expect for a documentary like this? Supposedly, there’s a larger set including multiple CDs. But, I guess that I just got the documentary and that’s fine by me.

The DVD comes with extended interviews as the special features. Most of the material has never been seen before, so that’s something for the diehards. The A/V Quality is amazing, but I wish we would’ve got an HD release. Thankfully, the Dolby stereo track supports Denver’s music across the main channels. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans.
