JEEPERS CREEPERS 2 REVIEWED
“Jeepers Creepers 2″ is an amazing horror sequel. Picking up a few days after the end of the first film, the world building continues as the Creeper finishes up his last few days of hunting. We see how the locals respond to his terror, alongside the many travelers that get impacted by the Creeper’s machinations. From bone shurikens to harpoon guns, terror exists at every turn. Feeling like a throwback to the 80s sequel farms, this movie tries to take it up a notch. Whether it be Ray Wise leading the Taggart family or the sports team realizing that their bus is getting picked off, these people know the stakes and they’re fighting for their lives.
This is a rather brutal film about how a creature works properly in horror films. The Creepers isn’t able to hear reason or accept a deal. It needs to feed and it wants to test humanity. Hell, the futility of trying to compete with the creature makes the ending that much more powerful. Jeepers Creepers 2 might be Victor Salva’s best film, but that might not be saying much to casual fans. Let’s phrase it this way. We need more horror directors like Salva getting the emotional appeal of true terror. Whatever kills this Post Modern claptrap that’s been ruining terror in cinemas since 1996.
