ISLAND OF DEATH

“Island of Death” was one of those films that I used to have the Brits try to force me to watch. Now, that I finally watched it…I love it. The tale of two vacationing Brits torturing a small Greek island is amazing. Chris and Celia have sex with everyone and everything. Then, they murder them. Sometimes, they use paint and urine to get their jollies. Other times, they just cut to the chase and start stomping dudes out.

Nico Mastorakis is an unsung hero of horror. Mastorakis seems to be Hooper influence on the International scale without any of the subtext. The film is an onslaught of gore that exists just to be exploitation. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it might turn off new viewers. If it turns you off, that’s on you. Some of us enjoy watching graphic schlock.

The Blu-Ray comes with featurettes, alternate opening titles, five original soundtrack cuts, a documentary and more as the special features. The A/V Quality is stunning for a film of its age. The 1080p transfer looks like the print was struck yesterday. The LPCM 2.0 track is flawless with deep range. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
