HELL ON WHEELS: SEASON 5 VOLUME 2 REVIEWED
“Hell on Wheels” ends with a final seven episodes that sees the first transcontinental railroad being finished. But, what is stopping this milestone for happening for America? Well, it’s some new villains and a few leftovers that haven’t bailed on the show yet. The directing talent behind the last episodes is amazing? Who knew that Neil Labute could shoot a Western? While the show is pretty solid traditional fare, I can’t help but wonder why it took so long to wrap up the show.
Colm Meaney continues to be the show’s MVP, but even his schtick is running dry. The rest of the cast seems to be racing to the obvious conclusion, but what does it mean for the audience? Well, we kinda got forgotten in the mad dash for a reasonable finale. It’s not the worst thing, but it happened.

The Plot Thus Far
Cullen Bohannon, a former soldier and slaveholder, follows the track of a band of Union soldiers, the killers of his wife. This brings him to the middle of one of the biggest projects in US history, the building of the transcontinental railroad. After the war years in the 1860s, this undertaking connected the prospering east with the still wild west.
