THE PLOT THUS FAR
In this feline sensation’s first movie, Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever, lonely Grumpy Cat lives in a mall pet shop where she never gets chosen by customers. Because she always gets passed over, this kitty develops a very sour outlook on life until…one day during the holidays, a very special 12-year-old girl named Chrystal enters the pet store and falls in love with Grumpy. The two form a special friendship when Chrystal discovers she is the only person who can hear this feline talk. Will Grumpy Cat finally learn the true meaning of Christmas, or will it be, in Grumpy’s words, the “Worst. Christmas. Ever.”?
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever” is about Grumpy Cat finally getting adopted from the mall pet store. I guess that’s way less sad than getting picked up at the animal shelter. Well, she meets a 12 year old girl that can hear her talk. The two bond and Grumpy Cat spends the entire movie never commanding the young girl to kill for her. That alone made me proud of Grumpy Cat, as she fought her feline urges to build a human army of death.
There’s something about the Internet’s desire to force memes on everything. It’s a cat with a squishy face that it looks like it hates the world. All cats hate the world and I’m not sure if the meme warranted a Holiday film. While Lifetime was probably going to shoot something anyways, they could’ve done worse. After all, we could’ve got a “Very Flowers in the Attic Christmas Spectacular”. All of that incestual drama for the Holidays on basic cable. Get that money, Heather Graham.
The DVD comes with Grumpy Cat’s Worst Ice Bucket Challenge Ever as the sole special features. The A/V Quality is typical for standard definition. The transfer is flat. But, the Dolby track kicks in nicely. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans.
