THE PLOT THUS FAR
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“The Glades” is a show that I barely acknowledged. Sure, it’s just finishing up its third year and it may or may not be cancelled. Honestly, I’ve yet to find a fan site that helps me learn more about the characters. What I did find was a lot of reviews talking about how the show wasn’t that bad. Really? That’s the best you’ve got?
The second season is more of the same, as we develop the relationship between Jim and Callie. Outside of that, it’s your usual assortment of crimes and mystery. This is supposed to be a different show that plays upon laid back charm. However, the show is far too laid back for its own good. I can’t remember a plot without having to rewatch an episode for a 20 minute stretch.
The DVD comes with a commentary, extended episode, deleted scenes and a featurette. The standard definition transfer is workable, but I feel like some of the exterior shots would’ve really popped in HD. The Dolby Digital track is sharp enough for what’s available. Still, it works. In the end, I’d recommend a rental.
