Fio Launches as New Catholic Audio Streaming App

A new app called Fio has launched, aimed at Catholics worldwide — from the deeply devoted to those exploring or returning to the faith. Founded by Will Hickl of NOVUM Collective and NOVUM Records, the name “Fio” comes from the Latin to become or to create.

What It Is

Fio is more than just another streaming service. The app offers:

  • Podcasts covering theology, family life, and Catholic current events
  • Curated music across genres, including NOVUM’s specialty catalog
  • Customized playlists for prayer, Eucharistic adoration, and events like the Jubilee of Hope
  • Audiobooks, professional talks, and homilies (rolling out soon)

Fio is currently available on iOS and Android, with a Web Player coming this Fall.

The Vision

“Fio isn’t just another streaming service — it’s a global Catholic community and a movement to support Catholic creators, strengthen our faith community, and ensure Catholic voices have a permanent, values-aligned digital home,” said Will Hickl, co-founder of Fio.

The goal: to become the premier destination for Catholic audio content, while providing Catholic creators with a sustainable revenue stream through royalties.

Future Plans

Fio will expand features in phases:

  • Audio ads (now rolling out)
  • Audiobooks
  • Talks — a speaker showcase series
  • Video support for podcasts and music videos
  • Creator tools with analytics, payouts, and engagement data

For Catholic Creators

Fio actively invites Catholic podcasters, publishers, artists, and evangelists to host content on the platform. The app is offering a competitive royalty model, including payments for podcasters simply when their shows are streamed by users.

“No one is doing what we are doing,” Hickl explained. “I want to talk to as many content creators as I can to give them a platform and a return on their own investment.”
