EVERY THING WILL BE FINE REVIEWED

“Every Thing Will Be Fine” is a film about moving on past a serious accident. However, the film gets caught up in so many minute details of interpersonal relationships that it forgets to be a movie. Franco is a laid back actor, while Wenders is a laid back director. Paired together to tackle a serious topic in a slow moving film and it feels like you ate a fistful of Xanax. Nothing happens that matters past Franco’s character needing to move on. When you have a central character already trying to find forgiveness and none of the other cast can offer it, where do you go? It becomes psychological wanking after some time. Wim Wenders was one of those directors that I didn’t really started enjoying until college. I remember those heady days when “Buena Vista Social Club” won over a ton of people. But, outside of “Pina”…his recent output has turned into cerebral student film material. Art isn’t democracy and not all films have to be entertaining. That being said, there must be a point. Franco must have a place to arrive by the end of the film and we never get it. Just a never ending barrage of pleasantries such as the title.
