Leading international entertainment company Entertainment One has acquired the U.S. and Canadian home video and digital rights for Michael Flatley: Lord of the Dance 3D. The deal was completed with international sales agent Kaleidoscope Film Distribution just before the films market premiere at the European Film Market in Berlin.
Entertainment Ones U.S. President Michael E. Rosenberg commented, The Lord of the Dance brand has a phenomenal worldwide following. Entertainment One is thrilled to add this franchise to our diverse and expanding portfolios in the U.S. and Canada, and we look forward to bringing this unique experience to DVD, Blu-ray and digital platforms.
Kaleidoscopes CEO, Spencer Pollard commented, We are thrilled to have inked our first distribution deal with Entertainment One for North America. We have been impressed with their understanding of the Lord of the Dance brand. North America is the second largest territory historically for Lord of the Dance and it was key for us to find a partner who is as excited about the film as we are.
The deal was negotiated by Pollard and Rosenberg, and announced by Caroline Stern, Director of International Sales and Acquisitions with Kaleidoscope.
Michael Flatley: Lord of the Dance 3D was filmed at sold-out shows in Dublin and London in late 2010. The film was shot in full stereoscopic 3D on 40 state-of-the-art 3D cameras, and stars, for the first time since 1998, the shows creator and Irish dance legend, Michael Flatley. Having toured with multiple troupes every year since 1996, including a performance at The Oscars and recurring residencies in Las Vegas, Lord of the Dance has been seen so far by more than 13 million people worldwide.
The film is set for a St. Patricks Day theatrical release in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and South Africa.
