Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who has been on maternity leave since Aug. 7, returns to “The View,” live, Monday, Oct. 19 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET). The hosts’ only update from Elisabeth was on Sept. 24 when she phoned “The View” studio to briefly chat live, on-air with pals Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd.

“The View” creator, executive producer and co-host Barbara Walters said, “We’ve missed Elisabeth both on and off the air. We’ve missed her opinions and her good humor. I am so happy she is coming back.”

“The other people were nice, but they weren’t her,” exclaimed moderator Whoopi Goldberg. “I’ve missed her, I’ve really, really missed her, just in the nick of time,” she added. Joy Behar said: “I’ve lost my political opposite, and I’m having withdrawals. I’m so happy she’s coming back.” And Sherri Shepherd rejoiced, “I am beyond excited. I know she is getting tired of me texting her nonstop with ‘I MISS YOU. PLEASE COME BACK.'”

Executive producer Bill Geddie said: “We are all excited about the return of Elisabeth. Things have been a little too quiet at the table and it’s making us all nervous. As a mother of three children, we suspect that Elisabeth’s hour on ‘The View’ will now be known to her as ‘mommy’s quiet time.'”

During Hasselbeck’s maternity leave, a variety of guest co-hosts including Meghan McCain, Kate Gosselin, La Toya Jackson, Mika Brzezinski from “Morning Joe,” actress/singer/author Melissa Gilbert and former Fox News correspondent E.D. Hill have been filling in for the 32 year-old mother of three. Upcoming hosts include “The Hills” star Heidi Montag (Oct. 1), former “View” co-host Lisa Ling (Oct. 5-6), “Ugly Betty” star Ana Ortiz (Oct. 8), Khloe Kardashian of “Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami” (Oct. 9) and Kaley Cuoco (10/13).
