EFFECTS REVIEWED
“Effects” is far more famous for being a film that disappeared for nearly 25 years. When Synapse rescued it in the 00s, most people were surprised to discover that early acting work from Savini didn’t pop. Basically, it’s a film about a horror movie shoot being used as a cover for a snuff film. The film was shot dirty and cheap using Romero associates working on the fly. Honestly, it looks like it. Movies like this are dirty for a reason and don’t work for everybody. That being said, I’m incredibly supportive of the AGFA for giving this film a shot in HD.
