EAGLEHEART: SEASON ONE 1

THE PLOT THUS FAR

Justice Has a New Best Pal.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

“Eagleheart” is a rather fun show that just doesn’t seem to connect like it should. While I like it when Adult Swim dips into live-action comedy, it mostly seems to be parodies of the kind of schlock that dominates CBS Prime Time. While that’s good for a few chuckles, it has never seemed to qualify a long-running program. That’s not counting “Saul of the Mole Men”, but no one seems to have counted that. Now, let’s take a look at the show.

Chris Elliott is an acquired taste, but he’s one of those last bastions of fully actualized comedy. The supporting players are fun, but nobody really sells the Walker Texas Ranger parody like Chris Elliott. Maybe it’s because he looks like my old college roomate or I still find “Get a Life” to be one of television’s underrated sitcoms, but I’ll follow Elliott around to any new project. I just wish the show could’ve carried the magic of the blimp episode throughout the entire season.

The DVD comes with deleted scenes and featurettes. The A/V Quality is a little sketchy at points due to the entire season being placed on one disc. Still, it looks better than broadcast quality. The kill reel and the unaired pilot are fun, but they share the same flat A/V Quality. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to Adult Swim fans.
